# Buying a used hybrid: battery questions A used hybrid's odometer and auction grade do not establish battery health. Ask what testing, service history and warranty documents exist for the specific car, and consider a specialist inspection. If a seller cites battery health, ask for the test date, method and written result. If none exists, treat its condition as unknown. ## Compare the whole car Review the service history, warning lights, fuel economy label, tyre condition and any warranty terms. The energy label is an estimate for comparison; actual costs depend on how and where you drive. ## Decide with evidence A specialist inspection can identify concerns before purchase. Ask which inspection and service records Motor Traders can supply for the vehicle you want. ## Sources - [Consumer Protection — buying from a dealer](https://www.consumerprotection.govt.nz/help-product-service/cars/finding-the-right-car/buying-car-from-dealer) - [EECA — vehicle energy labels](https://www.eeca.govt.nz/regulations/vehicle-emissions-and-energy-economy-labelling-programme/about-the-vehicle-emissions-and-energy-economy-labelling-programme/) ## Contact - **Address:** 35 Noel Burnside Road, Wiri, Auckland 2025, New Zealand - **Phone:** 027 252 4968 or 09 302 1668 - **Hours:** Open 7 days · 9:30am–5:30pm - **Web:** https://motortraders.co.nz
